Julia Sheer has nothing but fond memories of her growing up in Colorado. “I had the best childhood ever,” the songstress reflected. “I lived in this little cul-de-sac in Golden – where they make Coors Beer. My dad said we were bottle raised on Coors Lite. We played in the snow and the sun, and had a lot of childhood friends that were great. It was an amazing experience,” she said of growing up outside of Denver. “It was twenty minutes to downtown, and twenty minutes to the mountains.”
Her childhood memories also contain many clear recollections of music. “I listened to a lot of Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles. That’s what my parents were listening to. I’ve always loved music and being able to sing.” However, it wasn’t until her late teens that she seriously consider pursuing as a vocation. “I didn’t really think it was a realistic career until I was about eighteen. Up till that point, I just thought it was a dream that someday I might be able to be.”
Music fans first became aware of Julia’s talent with her series of cover videos on YouTube such as Paramore’s “I’m Still Into You” and Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush.” So far, her videos have over 91 million views. “That’s the whole reason my name is even out there. It was kind of by accident. I didn’t make the videos with a plan that I would get this huge Internet following. I was kind of just doing it for fun. It just snowballed from there, and everything I have is because of that. People wouldn’t know who I am if it weren’t for those videos.”
